We are very happy that you have decided to join our group. Currently, as of October 1, we have about 140 members who have signed up. This letter is to all of you. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! <P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3>My name is Frances Crawford Fennessy; I am the president of the Non-Traditional Student Organization. I am an English graduate student, and have been attending SHSU for about 2 years. Some of you may have met me before; I have worked in the Writing Center for a number of years, and I am currently an instructor of 031 English. I am also the president of the Gintz Apartment Council (the on-campus, family dorms).</FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"> <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3>Dr. Kerri Rogers is our faculty sponsor. She was previously the director of the Lowman Student Center but is now an associate dean and the Director of The First Year Experience. We were both with NTSO last year and are looking forward to this year’s anticipated growth. </FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"> <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3>NTSO has received unprecedented support by SHSU. Without their support, we would be unable to provide our member the activities we plan to host this year.</FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"> <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3>Some of you have asked about the next NTSO meeting. We are going to spend the month of October promoting our organization, and November will kick off our monthly meetings. I would like to find out from you what day, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, would be best for you. Remember that our meetings are between 11:45 and 1:00 at the LSC. They are open (meaning that you can come and go according to your schedule) and offer a free lunch for each attendee. If you have your children with you, bring them; there is always enough food. The meetings are informal; we meet in the LSC and lounge on sofas, and we do not concern ourselves with strict rules about protocol (except during elections). We would like to meet on a day when most of our members can come.</FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"> <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3>Beginning the week of October 11, we are going to continue trying to reach other non-traditional students by hanging up posters on building doors throughout the campus. These posters will remind non-traditional students about our listserv and provide them the address to sign up. If you are interested, and have a little spare time, we are looking for volunteers to help us with this activity. </FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"> <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3>Feel free to write the listserv with any questions that you have. I will try to answer them as quickly and accurately as possible. Again, I want to thank you for joining NTSO. </FONT></P>
