I use AVG free on my family's computers. free.grisoft.com
I have the paid version on my laptop, but the free version is good. It
isn't a demo, just the free, scaled down version. I've been very happy
with it.

Thanks for the tip. I wonder if its real time is significantly slower?
Besides avoiding the huge $40-70 expense of a commercial product, I
think that pc-cillin has gotten too bloated over the years (like Norton)
and is just slowing my machine down... Looking for a faster, cheaper
alternative.

I've been using it on my home PC for some time. Seems to work well,
they keep the database updated on a timely basis. The only "problem" I
recall is that it takes a longer time to scan than some other antivirus
packages.
