*Computer Science SHACS Party*

Dr. and Mrs. Burris would like to invite the Computer Science to a
"Mid-Term Party" party Saturday October 13 at the Burris residence. The
fun will start at 5:00 P.M. with horse shoes, volleyball, croquet, table
tennis and lawn darts. Tables for dominoes, cards, and any other games
you might wish to bring will be available. The tables will be set up on
the lawn and patio. Former students are welcome. You may wear your
Halloween costume if desired! Our Christmas Party will probably be
December 1, 2007.

Mrs. Burris says something will be served to eat but has not yet decided
what. You are welcome to contribute a favorite chip, dip, dessert, or
other food item if desired. Please do not feel obligated to bring
anything other than your self and your good humor. Bring your spouse or
other interest (but please, not both at the same time). We have about
20 chairs. If convenient, you may wish to bring a lawn chair. A reply
with the number of people in your group attending is appreciated.

I will supply a volleyball and net for those who wish to play. Be
warned, the volleyball court is professional grade, none of that silly
sand stuff you saw at the beach, yuppie apartment complexes, and on the
Olympics. If you dig for a shot, you will sport the resulting cuts,
scrapes, and bruises for an extended period of time. This course was
designed for true Olympians.

I will have a can of Deep Woods Off available for as long as it lasts.
Frankly, I do not have a mosquito problem. Learn to bite back!
Conversation is optional but suggested.

The "Smack Talk" at the last party was an embarrassment. If you "talk
the talk, then walk the walk!" It's "trash talk" if you do not perform
to expectations. Straight dominos, forty two, Moon, Hearts, Spades, and
Spin the Plastic Fork are a few of the games indulged at the last
party. I noted SHACS offices and some faculty (other than myself)
exhibited particularly poor performance.

Must faculty be the only group to match talk with accomplishments? Are
there no legitimate gamesters in Computer Science, and Computer
Services, or former students?

If you get lost on the way, my home phone is 295-8062.

Directions follow: Take FM1374 West from Interstate 45 (headed out of
town). You will pass the Dairy Queen on the campus side of the
interstate (driver side) (Ford company one block on passenger side -
campus side of interstate) then a Diamond Shamrock gas station on the
west (driver) side of the interstate coming from campus. The Region VI
Service Education Center will be on your right about ¼ mile on FM1374
(large new addition just completed). About a mile from the interstate
you will pass the entrance to Spring Lake Estates on your left, followed
by a single house, then a white wood church (all on the left). The
first street to the left after the church is Pine Shadows subdivision.
After you enter the subdivision, the street makes an immediate turn to
the right (an ell). The first street to the left after the ell is Pine
Grove Drive. The party will be at the last house on the left at the
bottom of the hill, 3357 Pine Grove Drive.
