Position Title:  Systems Administrator

Major/Essential Duties of Job:  Troubleshoots problems with networks,
web services, e-mail services, cluster/grid computing services, database
services, and file services. 

Manage 20+ Linux systems in cluster environment, ensuring maximum uptime
of the servers. 

Coordinate with development team on new software/package installation,
scheduling releases of software updates, and other maintenance tasks. 

Assists a group of scientists and modelers with evaluation of new
technologies/software/solutions and provide reports and implementation
plans as needed. 

Monitor system logs and activity on all servers and devices. 

Maintains a broad knowledge of operating systems, programming languages
and hardware. 

Provide scientists and modelers with purchasing, ordering, and inventory
support. 
   
Required Education:  BS Computer Science or related field    
    
Required Experience:  2 years experience in Systems Administration and 2
years experience in Linux/Unix systems, including Solaris, Linux
C++/Java development 
   
Preferred Experience:  Advanced knowledge and 1 year experience in
troubleshooting of Linux (Centos/Solaris)    
Required special knowledge, abilities, and skills:  Knowledge of Apache,
POSTGRESQL and Mysql servers; knowledge and troubleshooting skills with
Perl and/or SHELL scripts; development abilities in C++/Java, knowledge
and troubleshooting skills with ROCKS cluster software or similar and
working knowledge of web application security, vulnerabilities and
countermeasures.  
  
Preferred special knowledge, abilities, and skills:  Advanced
programming skills in C++ and Java
