[Shacs] career update..

Just thought I'd drop a line.. Last time we talked, I was working with the
Texas A&M Health Science Center doing web development. Just when I thought
I would continue to carve out my professional niche solely in web
technologies (webmastery, marketing, applications, etc), I was offered a
position back at Brazos County which I accepted.

I am now in charge of the Systems Group in IT, and the things we do
encompass pretty much whatever involves IT and "some solution." Things as
mundane as software purchase requests cross my desk all the way to large
scale business analysis, purchase, implementation, and in-house development
are in my arena. Our webmaster (my former position) is doing a smashing job
with internals, one programmer is left supporting legacy apps, the other
programmer is doing primarily java/j2ee development (overkill!) in eclipse
atop tomcat, and the assistant systems analyst is bridging the gap between
county employee/end users and vendors and programmers.

I have a pretty young team, and it's a challenging and busy career move for
me. We all enjoy what we do, and we work well with the other groups in the
department and across the county. You've seen my job postings before, and
if any others turn up, I'll be sure to drop a line here again when they do.

all the best.. study hard.. don't let burris get you down ;)

happen in this world. I mean, look at me." (name that movie and scene..)
