[Shacs] D.C. Gun Case

I know this isn't really computer related, but since many of the list's readers are interested in the subject matter I figured I'd forward it along.  The following links popped up in my RSS feed today regarding the D.C. gun case.  The first is an article about the Bush Administration and its stance on the matter.  The second link is a series of the amicus briefs that have been filed for the petitioner, which is the city.  In reading the amicus briefs, it is important to read the part at the beginning that explains why that particular group is writing on the matter.  That reason may shed some light on why they put forth the arguments they do.
