Debra Taylor of Empire Truss, here in Huntsville, is looking for someone to help them with an intolerable situation. They have a central server that, among other things, stores their Quickbook files. Logging into the server and recording even one transaction in QuickBooks is an excrutiatingly slow experience. They claim that they have modern servers and client computers, limited bandwidth use, just changed out the router, etc. However, they have moved from an old server to a new server. For a time, the new server was apparently checking licenses on the old server, but the old server is supposedly no longer in use, so one theory is that communication is being attempted with a nonexistent machine at some point in the interaction between client and server. They've had several people tell them how to fix the problem only for it not to work, so they're looking for someone reasonably competent. She seems to think she needs someone with a network certification, but I'm sure we have some experienced students or faculty with enough smarts to give her a hand. Let me know if you think you can be of help.
