Ok, you graduated, got your feet wet for a number of years in IT, and have
seen a variety of managerial styles over the years.. Now you can step up and
be that guy (and help me out in the process-- I would love to see this
position filled with quality SHSU-grown talent).
The IT director here at Brazos County is a real treat: he is fair,
cool-headed, thorough, and honest. The senior staff positions report
directly to the director and are charged to manage their domains. I manage
the Systems Group (business analysis, programming, web). The IT department
is comprised of 17 employees with the network group being the largest: 3 PC
techs and 2 assistant network admins who report to the position advertised
below. The interesting challenges never cease, and the projects underway
are no exception.

December 2008: Supervisory position responsible for multi-platform,
multi-site LAN/WAN. Implements polices, standards and security procedures.
Evaluates requirements for current and future network. Prepares and
maintains technical systems docs. Supports servers, routers, switches, hubs,
firewalls. Installs third-party software, upgrades, and patches. Resolves
operating system and applications software related issues. Requires MS in
Computer Science or related field, two years network and Unix
adminexperience, strong interpersonal and communications skills.
