I am a little surprised at all of the incorrect information being given out
in response to the query regarding the first college program in music
therapy. I think that if we are treating this service as a
professional/scholarly resource then we have to be more certain about the
information that we share, especially when dealing with clearly factual matters.

According to Ruth Boxberger's doctoral dissertation:

"Michigan State College, East Lansing, established the first four-year
curriculum in music therapy in the fall of 1944, under the direction of Roy
Underwood," (Boxberger, 1963, pp. 64--65).

Boxberger, R. (1963). A historical study of the National Association for
Music Therapy. Doctoral Dissertation, University of Kansas. UMI # 64-6814.
