Advice about hyperactive children

On a daily basis I am a music therapist, working in small groups and
individually with children, however, I am putting my "music education hat"
on,
asking for suggestions on how to successfully incorporate an extremely bright
hyperactive child into a children's church choir of 26 first and second
graders
that meets for an hour a week in the evenings (6:30-7:30). His difficult task
is learning songs by rote. Obviously, auditory processing for him is not
easy.
He responds well to instrument play and music games, which we combine with
learning songs. This is the first time he has been with other children in a
large
group setting, as he is an American who has lived overseas. Learning to
share
and accept others differences is new to him.
Any thoughts would be appreciated :-),
Ann
