The VA has closed its internal posting for a job in Recreation/Creative
Arts Therapies and it should soon come open to the public on
www.USAJOBS.gov <http://www.usajobs.gov/> .  The 40 hour a week (full
time) job is on the Eastern Regional Blind Center at the VA in West
Haven, CT, which is a 30 bed rehab unit for the visually impaired
serving veterans ages 20-80. The job is not specific to MT. They are
looking for someone to provide a broad range of services including
leisure assessment and community re-integration. MT/Creative Arts could
be part of the programming but the candidate must be willing to provide
a broad range of services including sports and fitness, or services as
that apply to the veterans needs (which could include music).

 

This is a full time job open to someone with a degree in Recreation
Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, or Drama Therapy. It may include an
evening and weekend. The salary range is $57,700-$75,000 with good
benefits. Experience with veterans and/or the visually impaired is a
plus.

 

West Haven is geographically between Boston and New York City. New
Haven, home of Yale University, is the city next door to West Haven, and
is diverse, and has a wonderful arts community and opportunities. Right
now the International Festival of Arts and Ideas is taking place in New
