Bill Purpose:  To amend the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to increase the amount paid to families of public safety officers killed in the line of duty.

Short Title:  Law Enforcement Discipline, Accountability, and Due Process Act of 2001
Bill Purpose:  To amend title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to provide standards and procedures to guide both State and local law enforcement agencies and law enforcement officers during internal investigations, interrogation of law enforcement officers, and administrative disciplinary hearings, to ensure accountability of law enforcement officers, to guarantee the due process rights of law enforcement officers, and to require States to enact law enforcement discipline, accountability, and due process laws.

	S. 842  (Sponsor: Sen Feingold, Russell D.)
Short Title:  Public Safety Act
Bill Purpose:  To ensure that the incarceration of inmates is not provided by private contractors or vendors and that persons charged or convicted of an offense against the United States shall be housed in facilities managed and maintained by Federal, State, or local governments.
(NOTE:  Also introduced 5/8/2001, the companion bill, H.R. 1764.  Introduced by Rep. Strickland.)

Short Title:  Treatment on Demand Assistance Act
Bill Purpose:  To provide assistance to States to expand and establish drug abuse treatment programs to enable such programs to provide services to individuals who voluntarily seek treatment for drug abuse.

	H.R. 1747  (Sponsor: Rep Kelly, Sue W.)
Bill Purpose:  To amend title 18, United States Code, to prohibit taking a child hostage in order to evade arrest.

Short Title:  Anti-Atrocity Alien Deportation Act of 2001
Bill Purpose:  To amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide that aliens who commit acts of torture, extrajudicial killings, or other specified atrocities abroad are inadmissible and removable and to establish within the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice an Office of Special Investigations having responsibilities under that Act with respect to all alien participants in war crimes, genocide, and the commission of acts of torture and extrajudicial killings abroad.

Short Title:  National Media Campaign to Prevent Underage Drinking Act of 2001

Short Title:  Law Enforcement Officers Equity Act

Short Title:  Hands Off Our Kids Act of 2001

Bill Purpose:  To amend the Violence Against Women Act of 2000 by expanding the legal assistance for victims of violence grant program to include legal assistance for victims of dating violence.
