Subject: Study of Green Guilt and Green Behavior

One of my students, Manisha Masher, is conducting an anonymous online study of "Green Guilt and Green Behavior." The study is investigating the relationship between guilt over the environment, and engaging in green behaviors. In some instances feeling guilty increases defensiveness and fails to lead to socially responsible behaviors, in others it contributes to more responsible actions. Understanding the negative or positive role of guilt in determining environmentally friendly behavior may help in developing public policies.

We hope everyone will participate in this study which takes about 15 minutes to complete. Also, please pass this on to your colleagues and students; we are hoping to get a large sample responding to the study. The study is found at: http://www.eparg.org/wright/green/
