Hi Everyone,

I hope that everyone's semester is going well. This e-mail is meant for all the first year students (and those of you who still need to take the Psychology Subject GRE). According to the program handbook, all students must take the Subject GRE once you have completed 18 hours. Since this is still a written (paper/pencil) test, there aren't as many test times offered so some planning is important on your part. As many of you will be completing your 18 hours in the spring, you'll need to schedule a time to take the exam. You could take the exam in the spring (which would actually be early) or in the fall so that you can be officially admitted to candidacy. You're required to obtain a score of at least the 50th percentile.

Here's the statement from the handbook regarding this requirement:

Once you have completed 18 (or more) hours toward your degree, you must be admitted to candidacy before you will be allowed to take further PSY classes. You will need to supply us with your Psychology GRE score and be admitted to candidacy before you register for any PSY classes after a fall or spring semester in which you complete 18 or more hours of graduate study.

Let me know if you have any questions.
