Graduate Seminar on Mindfulness and Psychology
(Psychology 5035 section 1; Spring 2014, limit 12)

Mindfulness is currently one of the fastest growing research and application areas in all of the sciences. It has significant and meaningful positive effects on human health and well-being, has been demonstrated to be therapeutically effective with a wide variety of physical and psychological issues, and has large positive effects when applied to schools, prisons, and the workplace. The seminar will explore the psychology of mindfulness, its modes of action and its application to psychological and physical health, education, the workplace and to general human flourishing. The course will function as a seminar with group discussions of assigned readings and student presentations of selected areas of research and application.
