Hey folks, some of you may be following the recent developments with the Texas social work board.  If not, you can read more about that here: https://www.texastribune.org/2020/10/14/texas-social-workers-rule-discrimination-lgbt-disabilities/ ?

If you would be interested in signing a petition opposing changes to the social work board of conduct that removes language preventing social workers from seeing individuals from the LGBTQ+ community and those with disabilities, there is a link below.  Texas Psychological Association  is working on developing a response and has reached out to the social work board about that.  Statements of solidarity may also be forthcoming from the Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC, which subsumed the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists) and TPA Local Area Societies, such as our own Sam Houston Area Psychological Association, so stay tuned there.
