​Hello Everyone!


This is a reminder that the short "blurbs" for GSPO e-board are due by Friday, May 14th. Currently no one has sent in a blurb so all positions are open! If you are interested in running, please send me 3-4 sentences about yourself and why you think you would be a good fit for the position. Both doctoral and master's students are eligible to run!


Being a member of the board helps you to become more involved in the program, connect with Graduate Studies (who give away tons of $$$ in scholarships), and adds a leadership position to your CV! GSPO typically hosts several events throughout the year (e.g. Fall/Winter Social, fundraising events, panels) and officers also support our community through volunteer work. Social distancing and COVID unfortunately pushed all of our events to zoom and cancelled others, but we are *hoping* to start having in person events again in the fall! (depending on SHSU policies)


Here are descriptions of the different roles and the current officer. Feel free to reach out to any of us if you have any questions!


President (Beata Krembuszewski): Leads board meetings, schedules and organizes events, serves as the contact-person for faculty in relation to GSPO, completes necessary organization-related paperwork for SHSU.


Vice-President (Ema Kiser): Assists president with organizing and scheduling events, coordinates with the Master's Vice President.


Master's Vice-President (Katherine Lewis): Communicates information to the master's students, represent needs from the master's program (must be a master's student).


Secretary (Debbie Torres): Record meeting minutes, organize and keep track of service hours (when completed), update media.


Treasurer (Bailey Barnes): Manage the cash box, online banking (venmo), and bank account for GSPO. Reimburse GSPO officers for event-related expenses.
