Hi Craig,

I hope you and your family are doing well! We’re looking to hire 2 part-time research assistants to work with us on our Leveraging Safe Adults (LeSA) grant and wondered if you’d be willing to share this with your students and wider network?

I appreciate it!!

Danica

Hello Houston Area Friends!

TCU is looking for two people with a heart for youth who’ve experienced trauma and are interested in working with us as part-time research assistants (RAs) on our Leveraging Safe Adults (LeSA) project. These two individuals would support facilities in the Katy and Seabrook areas. The ideal applicant would have the skills and knowledge to conduct assessments, deliver Trust-based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) groups to youth within facilities (in person), and deliver TBRI groups to caregivers (virtual platform), and bring youth and caregivers together for nurture groups. The individual should also be passionate about developing relationships with facility partners and staff members. This position is a hands on, boots on the ground research opportunity, utilizing TBRI to transform systems and impact families across Harris County.

About LeSA: The project builds upon the work of the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development (KPICD) in juvenile justice settings by equipping families with TBRI as youth are preparing to transition home from juvenile justice residential facilities. This is a joint project between two TCU institutes (KPICD and Institute of Behavioral Research) and is funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. We’re currently in year 3 of the 5-year grant.

Would you like to learn more? Apply here! https://jobs.tcu.edu/mob/en-us/job/497597/research-assistant<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fjobs.tcu.edu%2Fmob%2Fen-us%2Fjob%2F497597%2Fresearch-assistant&data=05%7C01%7Cceh003%40shsu.edu%7Cd5ce7ca6973a4794334d08dab844d00c%7Cb153cbd8b39247449b39e3cdb8677f00%7C0%7C0%7C638024902947873770%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=J1PwW5TySCrEW4is2wWPC3jL7z6ayftO1qBStloeKdM%3D&reserved=0>

What will the job entail? RAs will work directly with youth and caregivers, introducing the project, conducting assessments, and delivering TBRI sessions with youth and caregivers. They will meet regularly with the TCU team for training and project updates. These will occur both virtually and in person, depending on COVID restrictions.

In what regions will the study be conducted? We are working with 11 sites in Texas and Illinois. We are specifically recruiting for the Harris County area.

What is the time commitment? We hope to hire 1-2 part-time RAs in the Harris County region, with each RA investing 10-29 hours per week, depending on their availability and project needs.

Is being a TBRI Practitioner required in order to apply? No. If you know someone who might be interested and has a heart for TBRI, we will train them!

This is a unique opportunity to provide TBRI training to vulnerable families, and also be part of a larger research initiative with KPICD and the Institute of Behavioral Research at TCU!

Sounds good.

I will work on writing an email to the list of people (except for Craig Henderson) for promoting the job posting, once I receive the most recent blurb.

See attached list of university faculty that focus on addiction studies. The list includes Drs. Anka Vujanovic, Virmarie Correa-Hernandez, Jaye Derrick, Clayton Neighbors at the University of Houston. There also is Craig Henderson (an IBR colleague and friend) at Sam Houston. I suggest that y’all reach out to them to let them know of the temp RA job announcement and ask if they might know of potential candidates. Kevin

[EXTERNAL EMAIL WARNING] DO NOT CLICK LINKS or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe.

Dear COGDOP Colleagues,

We all wear many hats. One of the hats I wear is that I annually coordinate a list of faculty with addiction research interests who are recruiting graduate applicants for the upcoming admissions cycle. I do this as part of my service to the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) Addictive Behaviors Special Interest Group. It's a good way to generate some PR for our little group! Please share this list widely, including with your faculty as they may have undergraduates who are applying to graduate programs this year and have an interest in pursuing research related to addiction. The list has over 70 faculty listed from a variety of programs (i.e., not all clinical psych PhD programs).

Best wishes,

Jeremiah
