[Sigtaudelt] Sigma Tau Delta and the Houston Writer's Guild Teamup Contest

Good morning Sigma Tau Delta,

I am too excited to wait until next week to share this news! I have been in talks with the Houston Writer’s Guild and last night received confirmation that they would like to participate once again with SHSU’s Delta Delta chapter of Sigma Tau Delta in a National Novel Writing Month contest. Discussions of making this contest an annual event are ongoing, but for now, any SHSU student may participate for a chance to attend the Guild’s Annual Writer’s Conference in April of 2016 with their hotel room paid for and a chance to sit down and share their work with a literary agent.

What you need to participate:
You will need to register at http://nanowrimo.org/ so that your progress can be tracked.

How the contest works:
NaNoWriMo is an organization that seeks to celebrate writing and encourage authors by applying pressure through a set deadline and daily word count. As a participant, your goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 days, STARTING FROM SCRATCH. You may have as many notes written as you want, your subject matter can be about anything, but YOU CANNOT START YOUR NOVEL BEFORE NOVEMBER 1. You will need to words a day to make this goal.

Here’s where Sigma Tau Delta and the Houston Writer’s Guild challenge you further still:
The first three students, adhering to the rules of NaNoWriMo, to reach 50,000 words will be sent to the Houston Writer’s Guild’s Annual Conference.
 1st person to hit the goal, wins complimentary 3Day pass to April Conference and 1 Free Agent pitch session
2nd person to hit the goal, wins complimentary Saturday Main Event registration to April Conference and 1 Free Agent pitch session
3rd person to hit the goal, wins complimentary Saturday Main Event Registration to April Conference.
