I evidently misunderstood Dave about using music - he did say "performance chops".
 
I agree totally that we are not "performing" - and, yet, a little of that now and then probably doesn't hurt the 
process - 
especially if the client needs a little cheering up.
 
We should in most instances make our music subordinate and complementary to the therapeutic process.  
I always tell my 
students that "less is usually more".
 
Thanks for the clarification, Dave.  I would look forward to more dialogue in D.C.
