Dan:
Would it be possible for you to canvas NAPE leaders regarding the
following questions for a report I am preparing?

1. What have probation or parole agencies done to respond to the
"undervaluing" of their work by either the public, judiciary, or
correctional organizations?

2. Are there specific examples of actions taken to ensure adequate
funding and staffing of probation/parole agencies?

3. Are there any specific actions taken to increase public support for
probation/parole?

4. What role does adoption of a public/community safety approach have on
improving the perceived "value" of probation/parole?

5. Is anyone aware of specific literature (either books or articles)
that address the issue of "marketing" probation/parole or deal with the
"undervaluing" of these agencies by either external organizations or by
the internal host organizations that are responsible for funding?

I would appreciate any comments, suggestions etc. Thanks for you
assistance.

Don
