I am very sorry to inform you that Bobby L. Lavoie, Division Director, Division of Probation, Georgia Department of Corrections took his own life at home Thursday morning May 17, 2001.  He was a public servant of the highest caliber in Georgia serving his state for 37 years.  He completed the NIC Executive Orientation Program in September 2000.  He was also a member of the Executives of State Probation from Georgia.  Bobby was a warm and giving person and it is a great shock to those of us who knew and respected him to lose such a person.   He had no children and had been divorced for many years, however he was not alone because of his friends and associates.  He will long be remembered for his dedication and service to others.

Michael Nail is the Acting Director at this time.
