The American Psychological Foundation Gold Medal Award for Impact in Psychology

Funding: $1,000
Deadline: January 31, 2024
The American Psychological Foundation Gold Medal Award for Impact in Psychology recognizes the work of a psychologist or group of psychologists that is impactful, innovative, and transformational. The award can be either for a body of work in a particular field that has led to change (e.g., Evelyn Hooker’s work leading to the removal of the diagnosis of homosexuality from the DSM or David Barlow’s work in the field of anxiety) or for one-moment-in-time psychology game changers. APF welcomes nominations from various interests and constituencies of psychology (e.g., academics, scientists, practitioners, and those in the public interest and/or applied arena). Gold Medal recipients will receive a $1,000 award and a $1,000 travel stipend to attend the 2024 APA Convention.

Division 37 Diane J. Willis Early Career Award

Funding: $2,500
Deadline: January 31, 2024
The Division 37 Diane J. Willis Early Career Award is named after Dr. Willis to honor her life-long advocacy on behalf of children and families. Dr. Willis’ work cuts across many areas including clinical child, pediatric, developmental and family psychology. Through her publications, clinical work, mentoring and teaching, she has changed policy at the local, national and international level. She has advocated for children’s rights at the United Nations, developed programs on prevention and early intervention for Native American children living on reservations and established services promoting the well-being of children with developmental disabilities, chronic illness and those who have suffered from maltreatment.

Queen-Nellie Evans Award

Funding: $4,000
Deadline: January 31, 2024
The APF Queen-Nellie Evans Award will fund a graduate student from an underrepresented group, who has a demonstrated financial need and is committed to improving the disparities in societal structures and issues that negatively impact communities of color, particularly communities of African descent.

Alma Empowering Minds Scholarship & Mentorship Program

Funding: $5,000
Deadline: February 1, 2024
Through the Alma Empowering Minds Scholarship, graduate students from historically marginalized communities have the opportunity to receive financial support towards their master’s degree and ongoing mentorship from an experienced clinician.

Dr. Dolores O. Morris Scholarship

Funding: $7,000
Deadline: February 1, 2024
The Dr. Dolores O. Morris fund scholarship provides financial support to psychology graduate students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and commitment to advancing the field of psychology. Applicants should demonstrate a psychological research interest in trauma and otherness (defined as the experience of individual(s) who are marginalized because of race, country or origin, or culture, with the goal of promoting diversity and multiculturalism). Priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need.

Beth N. Rom-Rymer Scholarships

Funding: $5,000
Deadline: February 7, 2024
The Beth N. Rom-Rymer Scholarships provide support to both graduate students and practicing, licensed psychologists to complete their training in psychopharmacology programs, which adhere to the APA model curriculum of didactic training in clinical psychopharmacology. Preference will be given to applicants who are committed to working with the underserved.

Alice F. Chang Cancer Wellness Grant
