Hello Everyone,

Dr. Bernice Strauss came to the meeting and spoke about success and failure,
and being optimistic. She also talked about how everyone has a gift and we
should learn to own our gifts. She had a very good discussion with the
members at the meeting, and she said that if anyone ever needs to talk we
can all come by her office in the Sam Center. She also joked by saying that
when we fail at something we should eat ice cream for three days and move
on, and learn to accept our grief.

We also discussed the bake sale and the proceeds will help pay for our group
to become a chapter of the Association of Non-Traditional Students in Higher
Education (ANTSHE). With a combination of donations we should have this
done by January.

The Sam Houston Museum will be coming to our meeting on December 1st, from
11:45-1, in LSC 315 to talk about Christmas, and everyone is excited about
this meeting. This will be our end of the semester get together.

Here is our tenative guest speaker schedule for next semester:
January: Career Services (for a resume seminar)
February: Dr. Bernice Strauss
March: Sam Houston Museum (to talk about the Texas Revolution)
April: Sam Business Center (to talk about funding a business)
May: Dr. Gaertner (as an open forum to discuss parking issues on campus, or
any other non-traditional student issues).

Andrea L. Woodlief
President, Non-Traditional Student Organization
